You spend your life photographing, almost always because they pay you for it, other times because you also enjoy it. On most occasions, it's true, you have a good time.
And you keep your beautiful photos aside, those that you fall in love with. You save them and see them and only you. In its ideal size, large, splendid. You post them on Instagram and... Well, people see them so small that they can barely breathe, but at least you share them.
I don't know if you present yourself to the awards. I stopped doing it when one of them charged me more than $50 in exchange for participating with a series of photos and in exchange for a professional critique.
The truth is that these people are well organized. To make money at the expense of our vanity. You have to be careful with those. The criticism was given to me by a person with no experience, with a lot of empty words focused on that fashion of conceptual art where aesthetics, work, the felt message, you know, emotions do not fit.
Yes, now you think I'm angry like a little kid who doesn't like the ice cream they bought him. Believe me, it's not like that. I have given photography conferences at universities, workshops at schools, in cultural centers, I have edited photography books, and I have exhibited my work in art galleries on seven occasions. I know what I'm talking about.
I entered the Port Adriano Photography Contest 2018-19 because it gave me a good vibe. Under the theme "I enjoy, you enjoy", I found a series of photos that could win. Mnadé three. And I got it with this one below.
Now, when I show the photo on my phone, thanks to the excuse of having won the award, I love to see that the first expression of whoever looks at this photo is a smile.
